The Akimbo – An Innovative Mid-Line Attachable Climbing Tool

The Rock Exotica Akimbo is a versatile mid-line attachable friction device that can be removed or installed on the rope in seconds, without detaching from the harness. Suitable for both SRT and DRT climbing methods, the Akimbo allows climbers to smoothly ascend and descend, or position within the canopy.

This lightweight and compact device can accommodate a range of approved ropes from 11.5 – 13mm (see Tech Specs below). Friction can be easily adjusted to accommodate for variations in climber weight, changes to the environment, or to adjust for natural wear of the contact surfaces.

*Rope selection will determine working load limit of the Akimbo.



Approved Ropes
The following ropes are approved for use with the Akimbo at the Working Load Limit (WLL) shown below. Only approved ropes should be used with the Akimbo. Working Load is equal to the total weight of the climber including gear. Total Working Load of the climber must not exceed the Working Load Limit (WLL) for the rope listed below or slippage may occur!
