The oval shaped Maillon was developed on the principle of a chain link fitted with a manual nut opening. The Wide Mouth Oval Maillon Rapide is a strong, robust and safe connector used in many systems. With an opening that is wider than the standard oval maillon, the wider mouth opening facilitates easier joining of larger diameter items. While slower to open and close than a carabiner, maillons can be more secure when tightened down — and they cost less than a carabiner as well.
