The CMC Bullnose Lanyard system has been getting quite a workout with us lately, so we thought we’d pass on some of the great features of this very clever product. The 11mm Apex dynamic rope that makes up the dual leg lanyard is a single segment, terminating at the harness at two independent points. The loop this creates (the ‘bullnose’) between the lanyard arms effectively acts as another attachment point for rope access contact rescues, clipping back the lanyard arms around anchors, short hanging bags of gear whilst climbing ladders & so on. It also adds redundancy into the system; both arms of the lanyard are terminated at independent points at the harness.
The bullnose is great for use as a short bypass setup for travelling along fixed static lines, for rope access work where multiple lanyards are always required, as a system on its own for rescuer edge safety, progressing from one anchor to another (see picture),arbour work & more. The Apex dynamic rope is very flexible & easy to work with & the sewn terminations keep connectors orientated just right.
