Industrial Vertical Rescue

SISOVTR301A Perform Vertical Rescues mapped to PUASAR032 Undertake Vertical Rescue

This is a five to seven day program that is set in an industrial rescue context, and designed for industrial Emergency Response Teams.  Ideally, attending students will have previous industrial working at heights training and experience, and be familiar with working in a harness and employing fall protection techniques. The length of the course will vary depending on the group’s experience and desired outcomes, context and venue.

Course Outline
The Industrial Vertical Rescue training course looks extensively at potential rope rescue situations and situational variables such as confined space issues or moving plant. In addition, a series of complex team scenarios are used to put into practice the theoretical basis of the program. Students can expect to cover topics including PPE & equipment for industrial rescue, overarching WHS legislation codes and standards, knots hitches and bends, anchor rigging, rope based access techniques, mechanical advantage systems, patient packaging & litter rigging (SKED type and rigid basket type), artificial high directional rigging and some offset systems for lateral movement of a rescue load. We also cover primary survey & immediate trauma management considerations in an industrial setting.

Course Outcome
Successful participants receive an ASQA approved Statement of Attainment that fulfils the requirements of SISOVTR301A Perform Vertical Rescues mapped to PUASAR032 Undertake Vertical Rescue which is provided by PACI (RTO ID 2808)
