Crane Rescue Training

Our Crane Rescue training course is a three day (24 hour) course designed for crane riggers, operators and maintenance personnel who are required to perform work on tower and luffing cranes.

Tower cranes can present significant height safety issues for operators and riggers who must carry out work on these structures safely.  Likewise, the difficulties involved in retrieving an injured or unconscious operator from a tower crane, especially from the jib, are often overlooked and frequently put into the ‘too hard basket’.

Course Outline
Our Tower Crane Rescue Course was originally designed, more than 15 years ago, at the request of a tier one crane erection company to identify issues of worker safety and has since become one of the leading programs of its kind available.  Subjects covered include:-

  • risk assessing potential accident / rescue zones on a crane
  • revision of fundamental access & fall protection techniques
  • PPE & rescue equipment appropriate for crane operations
  • assisted rappel (abseil) based rescues
  • lift / lower rescue techniques (using our custom designed kits)
  • inclined ‘skate block’ rescue technique
  • Harness Hang Syndrome & trauma immediate management.

The course is relatively strenuous & students will be asked to conduct a number of highly realistic scenarios during the program that identify realistic potential rescue situations.

Course Outcome
Successful participants receive an ASQA approved Statement of Attainment that fulfils the requirements of RIIWHS204E Work Safely at Heights, contextualised to crane rescue, which is provided by PACI (RTO ID 2808)

Course Inclusions
Fall protection & access PPE if necessary along with our custom designed crane rescue kits.
