Firm Warned Over Rope Access Safety Breaches

A New Zealand company that installs and tests safety anchor points for industrial abseilers has received a formal warning, as new safety guidelines are developed for the industry.  The investigation followed a complaint against the company after it certified as safe 42 eye-bolts on a 12th storey balcony.  The company had installed 38 of the anchor points.  A property management company retested the anchor points after concerns were raised by a contractor.  All were found to be unsafe, with one pulling loose during testing.
