Versatile Rappel and Load Lowering Device

The SMC Four Bar U-Rack with Hyperbars is an excellently engineered, high strength variable friction device for descending and load lowering purposes.  The four bar design with the addition of the two opposing 'hyperbars' means the operator can vary the friction of the device significantly right up to easily holding a static load by tying off the rope around the hyperbars. Absolutely essential for wilderness rescue applications, some other features of the SMC U rack include:

• SMC U-Rack assemblies are the only such U-Racks which are UL Certified to the current NFPA standards
• they may be used as either a rappel or lowering device
• provides for the even distribution of weight between both sides of the rack
• does not twist rope as can occur when using a Figure 8 type descender
• may be used with single or double ropes of varying diameters
• stainless steel rack material provides greater strength, reliability and long lasting service
• Brake Bars are available as aluminum or stainless steel and come in a variety of styles and sizes.
