Wilderness Vertical Rescue Course
The Wilderness Vertical Rescue Training Course is a seven day(60 hour) comprehensive course covering all aspects of low and high angle wilderness rope rescue. The course is designed to give students a complete grounding in all aspects of rope rescue in a wilderness environment.

Course Outline The Wilderness Rescue Course covers the following subjects:-
- Personal vertical mobility
- Situational awareness and planning for vertical rescue
- Equipment and PPE
- Knots, hitches and bends for rigging
- Rescue anchor systems
- Mechanical advantage
- Raising and lowering systems
- Redundant belay and conditional single rope systems
- Artificial high directionals (AHDs) such as the Arizona Vortex Multipod
- Stretchers, bridle rigging and patient packaging
- Attendant in-riding and out-riding setups and more.

Course Outcome Successful participants receive a nationally endorsed Statement of Attainment.
Course Inclusions and Participant Preparedness All rescue equipment is supplied, along with a comprehensive course manual. Attending participants need to have some roping experience prior to enrolling in this course.
The course itself is relatively strenuous and involves a number of intensive scenarios, including a night activity. Participants should be prepared to carry moderate loads into a number of escarpment locations and be self sufficient in regards to adverse weather clothing, illumination, food and water.
